Learn pole lathe turning with treadle – 2-day course!
Over two days, you’ll have the opportunity to dive deeper into the possibilities of the treadle lathe (pole lathe / foot-powered lathe) and try it out while developing your technical skills.

The svegsvarv (pole lathe / spring-pole lathe) is one of the earliest lathe designs and has its own special character that sets it quite apart from turning on a powered machine lathe. The biggest difference is that the workpiece you’re turning moves back and forth as you tread down and lift your foot, which means you need to work rhythmically. A clever advantage of this method is that it allows you to turn handles on mugs and bowls, for example.

Unlike my one-day course, here you get the chance for much deeper exploration of all topics related to the treadle lathe. On day 2, your body has time to settle into the new experiences. The turning and treading will feel easier – an experience I think is important for you to taste, so that hopefully you’ll go on to turn a bit more in the future, or maybe even build your own lathe? =)
