From Tree Trunk to Wooden Jar

We make the wooden jar in a special smart way! The technique is called “shrink technique” and is used when we attach the bottom to the jar.

Wooden jar example

First, we hollow out a tree trunk of any size with different tools. You’ll learn traditional woodworking methods and create a beautiful, functional wooden jar to take home.

The Process

  1. Select a suitable piece of fresh wood
  2. Hollow out the center using traditional tools
  3. Create a groove for the bottom piece
  4. Insert the bottom and let it dry to shrink-fit

Another wooden craft example

The shrink technique is an ancient method that utilizes the natural properties of wood as it dries. This creates a strong, seamless connection without the need for glue or fasteners.
