From Tree Trunk to Wooden Jar
We make the wooden jar in a special smart way! The technique is called “shrink technique” and is used when we attach the bottom to the jar.
First, we hollow out a tree trunk of any size with different tools. You’ll learn traditional woodworking methods and create a beautiful, functional wooden jar to take home.
The Process
- Select a suitable piece of fresh wood
- Hollow out the center using traditional tools
- Create a groove for the bottom piece
- Insert the bottom and let it dry to shrink-fit
The shrink technique is an ancient method that utilizes the natural properties of wood as it dries. This creates a strong, seamless connection without the need for glue or fasteners.
